Who am I?

I'm The Open Source BIM Manager and am the creator behind this template. I work in the digitalization of the AEC Industry with a multi-year experience. BIM, in its essence is all about communication and collaboration. CDEs tend to be very costly, especially for smaller practices, and its often a slow process to onboard employees. This template aims to give practices (especially ones already using Notion) a simple, quick-start, solution to CDEs in AEC. In my view, CDEs are nothing special in AEC and can be emulated using simply data management techniques (like Versioning).

• Whats the procedure? After purchase, you'll receive a link to duplicate the template into your Notion workspace. From there, you can start managing your projects. Easy to setup.
• Why should i use Notion? Notion is a hardware and software agnostic platform, that allows for maximum flexibility: Databases, Kanbans, Calendars, Templating and more. Also, Notion has a lot of integrations that allow you to connect your software stack.
• Are there any additional costs? No, Notion is free for individuals. There are paid plans, but you can start using Not-i-CDE with a free account on Notion, although i would recommend a paid plan (the smallest one is perfectly fine), as AEC projects demand the ability to upload files > 5MB. The costs compared to a standard CDE solution are still quite small.
• Is it worth it? We spend so much time searching for information and files during our workdays. A platform that functions as a common data environment is therefore crucial for any AEC project. If you compare the one-time-price of a Notion-based solution like this one with "traditional" CDEs, its day and night. So from a value-for-money standpoint, this is unbeatable - especially for practices already using Notion.
